The Consensus Story
The work of Consensus builds upon a lifetime of perseverance and public service, beginning with one summer afternoon when a 3rd grader filled out a piece of campaign literature, which led to answering a request to join a state representative’s door-to-door campaign in their neighborhood — talking politics with neighbors who didn’t all agree, but were still good neighbors. On Election Day of the same campaign, that 3rd grader stood in the rain volunteering at a polling location, then later left the victory night party to help share the vote tally via landline telephone with the campaign manager. Weeks later, they led the Pledge of Allegiance at the representative’s swearing in ceremony. The rest is history.
In the decades since that night, the founder of Consensus has:
Served dozens of campaigns and in the U.S. Navy abroad during Operation Enduring Freedom
Worked as communications and legislative staff in Michigan’s State House and Senate
Traveled 21 states (and internationally) as an aide to 3 presidential campaigns
Lobbied on behalf a Fortune 500 tech company and Michigan’s largest chamber of commerce
Advocated for non-profits supporting veterans and bipartisan consensus on democratic norms
Let’s make some more history we can be proud of together.
